Managerial Competencies in Small Enterprises

The dissertation thesis dealt with the managerial competencies in the small manufacturing enterprises in the Czech Republic. The research aimed to examine the current level of these competencies on the sample of top managers of those enterprises. The chosen topic is topic of current importance due the competency development for enhancing the managerial performance. The thesis elaboration was based on the detailed literature review of national and international publications in the respected scientific journals, and on the in-depth analyses conducted through the primary researches. The main objective of the dissertation thesis was to detect the competency level of top managers in the small manufacturing enterprises in the context of business management and to identify the key variables influencing the discovered competency level and on the basis of research findings provide recommendations for further competency development. The main objective was supported with four partial objectives and five research hypotheses. On the basis of results of executed pilot research on managerial competencies the model of managerial competencies was established, and further verified in the author’s primary research. Within the data analysis and data evaluation, the competency level was formed. The dependences of competencies on examined variables were tested empirically. Those variables were sex, length of current and total practice, age, ownership and education. The aggregated research results were compared with the literature review and based on this comparison, the recommendations for further managerial competency level improvement were provided. The conclusions and further research aims form the integral part of the dissertation thesis.
Assessment Competency in Firm Gufero - Tomin

This diploma thesis deals with competencies of people who participate on a company running. The determination of these competencies and their dividing according to their types and roles that occur in the company are analyzed at the theoretical level. The work examines and studies strategy being the basic reference point for the formulation of the company’s targets and tasks related to them, accomplishment of which is the foundation of the assigned competencies. The practical part of the thesis deals with analysis of an actual company’s environment with the main purpose of determining the particular area of the enterprise which creates a narrowed place and tries to solve this problem by establishing the appropriate competencies.

Táto bakalárska práca sa zaoberá návrhom plánu rozvoja manažéra pôsobiaceho v malej firme. Teoretická časť obsahuje prehľad literatúry o problematike manažéra, kompetencií, kompetenčného modelu a rozvoja manažérov. V analytickej časti je stručne popísaný manažér a spoločnosť, v ktorej pracuje. Vybrané analytické a výskumné metódy sú v analytickej časti použité na identifikáciu kompetencií a vytvorenie kompetenčného modelu, ktorý je následne validovaný a je meraná úroveň prezentovaných kompetencií. Posledná časť obsahuje finálny návrh plánu rozvoja manažéra, ktorý by mal viesť k lepšiemu pracovnému výkonu a následne k lepším výsledkom spoločnosti.
Key competences of a nurse in extracorporeal membrane oxygenation

The aim of this thesis is to map the specifics of work in intensive care of a critically ill patient on extracorporeal membrane oxygenation and to find out what knowledge and skills an intensive care nurse caring for a critically ill patient connected to extracorporeal membrane oxygenation must have. Three research questions were established to meet the objectives: What are the key competencies of a critical care nurse in caring for a critically ill patient on extracorporeal membrane oxygenation? What activities does a critical care nurse perform in intensive care when caring for a critically ill patient on extracorporeal membrane oxygenation? What is a critical care nurse's role in a multidisciplinary team when caring for a critically ill patient on extracorporeal membrane oxygenation? The theoretical part of the thesis focuses on the ECMO device itself, its history and components. It also describes the risks and complications that may occur as a result of this method. Last but not least, the necessary education and competence of nurses who can provide care for a critically ill patient on ECMO is described. A part of the thesis is also dedicated to the nursing management of care for such a patient. Qualitative research was used to achieve the objectives. The empirical part of the thesis was drawn up on the basis of semi-structured interviews with nine informants providing highly specialised nursing care for patients on extracorporeal membrane oxygenation working throughout the Czech Republic. The open coding method was used to analyse the data. Analysis of the data gave us a comprehensive view of care for patients on extracorporeal membrane oxygenation. Intensive care nurses provide comprehensive highly specialised nursing care, and it is essential that they have sufficient knowledge of the matter and the ability to work collaboratively in a team. The output of the thesis is a manual with basic information for nurses who encounter extracorporeal membrane oxygenation for the first time.
Headmaster's competency at secondary technical schools with technical focus

The diploma thesis deals with the current topic of headmaster's competence at secondary vocational schools, technically oriented. The thesis is based on the general theory of competencies and competency models. It aims to identify the headmaster's competencies at the technical vocational school in Prague and based on these findings create the competence model. On the basis of the literature search, a research was carried out, its purpose was to find out what competences the those people possess, i.e. to identify these competencies and to compile a competence model. The questionnaire survey technique was used as the first, data collection technique. Within the questionnaire survey, all headmasters and deputy headmasters were approached at 15 secondary technical schools in Prague. The third group of respondents was consisted of the founder of these schools. Through the questionnaire survey, we determined the importance of individual competencies. The second used technique was a semi-structured interview with selected representatives of respondent groups (headmasters and deputy headmasters). The interview was used to verify observable formulations that are part of the competency model. System of employee development in selected organisation

The thesis dealing with the topic "System of employee development in selected organisation" focuses on the educational system of a company operating in the automotive industry. It is a medium-sized company with about 150 employees. The company has chosen a competency model as a training strategy to achieve its training goals, i.e. the company has developed a competency matrix that shows which competencies are necessary for the performance of each job position. The aim of this thesis is to analyse and describe the educational strategy of the company under study, to identify problem areas and to suggest possible improvements. The thesis is divided into a theoretical part, based on the study of the literature, and an empirical part, dealing with the investigation of the actual state of the functioning of the training system in the company by means of document analysis and structured interview with the HR manager. In the theoretical part, the theoretical knowledge of individual authors is examined to introduce the reader to the issues, there is, for example, an explanation of the basic concepts in the field of corporate training, the phases of training, training from the perspective of strategic or competency-based approach to training. Comparison of competency models of headmasters at elementary schools in Prague 10

The thesis deals with the comparison of the competency models of headmaster of elementary schools in Prague 10. The theoretical part explains the basic terms as "competency", "key competency" and compares the definitions of different scientific sources. It describes their structure as well as the life cycle. Further on the thesis deals with the competency models in general and primarily with the models of the managers of the schools. The role of the competency model is highlighted as well as its reasons and its implementation. In the practical part the thesis deals with the qualitative investigation where the author compares the competency models that were created by shadowing and some other additional methods. The competencies were evaluated on base of the criteria of the competency model created by I. Lhotkova (2012). The output of the investigation is a case study in which the differences of the headmaster competencies in Prague 10, with similar conditions of leading the schools and with similar support from founders, are described. Big discrepancy in the competencies were not proved, on the other hand similar issues were detected.
Beginning phase of career manager for non-formal education

This thesis deals with the beginning phase of career manager for organization non- formal education. The work examines the process that precedes the onset school manager to executive positions primarily in terms of motivation, expectations and subsequent reality. It describes the initial phase of his work in a new role in life from the perspective of the management of school facilities and other activities associated with this process . The work is mapped to what extent the entrance to the Director and his previous preparation reflects on the development of controlled organization and quality of education provided . It also describes how to correspond to the expectations of the individual manager of educational facilities with a daily reality in the context of changing conditions providing non-formal education, based on education legislation and the overall development of society in the approach to the use of leisure time.
